Short term support, long term gain

Provision of monthly basics and education for their children is making all the difference for this family.

This family consists of seven members. Mum is 27 years old, grandma is 68, with five children aged 3 to13. The mother has been a victim of domestic violence and was abandoned by her husband two years ago. Since then, she and her children have returned to live in grandma’s house, which they share with the children’s uncle and his five children! Conditions at home are extremely poor. The children regularly suffered from hunger and malnutrition due to lack of resources.

This family is now a beneficiary of the Family Link programme, run by House of Opportunity partner organisation, A2B. A2B provide them with monthly food and hygiene packages. In addition, beds, mattresses and pillows have been provided, as well as blankets for the children, as they used to sleep on the floor with only a thin blanket for cover. Two of the younger children attend the “Another Life” kindergarten in Peqin. The three older boys are enrolled in public school, having previously received their early education and care through AL Peqin.

The mother and grandmother continually express their gratitude for all the support and care provided for their children, recognising the significant difference it has made in their daily lives.
