Putting the FUN in Fundraising!
It’s not an easy fundraising environment out there. Grant funding rounds are becoming increasingly competitive, and the cost of living continues to rise, affecting giving at home and expenditure overseas. Fundraising can be rather depressing! However, some of our supporters recently had the opportunity to raise money and awareness for House of Opportunity, all whilst having a lot of FUN, for fairly minimal effort.
Back in February a group of supporters from Rotherham were delighted to raise £500 for House of Opportunity by running a 90s themed Quiz Night at a local church. This was the first House of Opportunity fundraiser north of the Watford Gap and it was a great success! Around 50 people of all ages joined us for chilli, delicious brownies, a raffle and a brilliant quiz, one round of which involved smelling melted chocolates in tiny nappies….! Memorable 90’s outfits included one team dressed entirely as nuns in homage to Sister Act!
If this sounds like something you could bring to your church or local community, we’d love to support you. Our fundraising pack includes guidance and fundraising ideas. All you need is a handful of willing helpers and a space to host—preferably one that’s free to use. Food isn’t essential, but it certainly helped boost the total.
Every fundraiser, big or small, helps transform the lives of marginalised communities in Southeast Europe. And as our friends discovered, it also brings people together and fills a room with joy.
A fundraising pack can be downloaded here. If you’d like to explore an idea further, please get in touch. We’d love to help you get started.
